Books, stories and reading are a powerful way to receive information and to share precious moments as a family. I love supporting families to find meaningful ways to enjoy books together, and connecting parents with resources and information to meet their needs.

I am so grateful to Patty Wipfler (Hand in Hand Parenting) and Aletha Solter (Aware Parenting) for their understanding of the importance of connection.
The strategies Belynda shares are a game changer and I highly recommend her workshops to any parent seeking practical, sustainable, gentle strategies that meet their children where they are. This information really works! Belynda is so easy to work with. She is a wealth of knowledge and so supportive and non-judgemental. You feel safe to share your highs and lows and also get to meet other parents and realise you are not alone. Thank you Belynda for the amazing service you provide.
Sue
Mother of 12 and 10 year olds
Belynda offers alternatives that actually are very simple and above all work. All the tools are wrapped in simplicity. There is no trying to remember any steps of what to do next, no need to get anything 'right'. Belynda is passionate about exploring feelings without pushing for them to arise, there is no agenda. I have always felt invited to bring all of me into the sessions and that is because I trust Belynda and never felt that it was all too much for her (as I did with my caregivers as a child and young adult.) Healing happens spontaneously when no pressure is applied.
Rosemary
Grandcarer to a 5 year old
Speaking as a father I feel that in all sessions with Belynda she presented material in a way that was inclusive of fathers. It felt good to connect with other parents knowing we all struggle at times during our parenting journey. I was able to allow myself a more open approach to integration of parenting concepts, particularly listening and connection. My family has noticed positive changes and they value these changes. I would certainly recommend Belynda to other parents. I value Belynda's inclusive non-judgemental approach, not just to Dads, but to all parents regardless of their situation.
Leon
Father to a 1 year old
Belynda is amazing. She provides a safe space to be heard and feel truly supported. Through her mentoring I am more connected to my family and myself. I am so grateful for her and you will be too.

Mother of a 7 year old

...to help you feel supported and nourished.
All parents need and deserve so much support as they do this vital work.
Having someone who sees our goodness is a powerful way through challenges.
Deep listening, information about brain science, tools for connection: these all add up to parents who feel confident and empowered to lead their families well.
Parenting was never meant to be done alone. Humans are built for relationship and connection; spacious, unhurried, unworried and relaxed time with a mentor means you can return to parenting refreshed and lighter.
I love using play and laughter to support sibling relationships.
I have lots of experience in supporting children with high sensitivity, and in meeting the needs of families where children have additional needs.
A focus on connection is a beautiful way to support meaningful learning and development in the classroom. I am a qualified and experienced teacher and teacher librarian and I've worked with early educators to support listening to children's feelings in education settings. I've also supported parents to advocate for their child within the School setting.
Whatever the problem, connection is the solution - and there's no more powerful connector than play. I love supporting families to find creative ways to sprinkle more play into their day, and watching the magic that happens!
I've always loved books and reading. As a parent, this has been a powerful way to learn about evidence-based approaches and to connect with new ideas. I host a Parenting Book Club monthly - I hope you join me for some great discussions.
Music and singing provide a gorgeous point of connection. I love sharing rhymes and songs to help with tricky times and transitions.
Sharing stories together has been a great delight for me as a parent. I can't wait to tell you all about the stories we've loved and to help you find your own family favourites.
The magic that happens when we listen to children, laugh together, set warm limits and offer our deep love, is a wonder and a joy.
The parenting ideas I share are always centred on connection - because this is what the evidence tells us works to build thriving families, and it is what my heart tells me is pivotal for relationship and growth. I am certified to teach a number of evidence-based, nurturing, relationship-focused approaches. The two I rely most heavily on and love to mentor families in are Aware Parenting and Hand in Hand Parenting.
I'd love to connect! You can reach me at [email protected] or via my Facebook page at Belynda Smith Parenting. My workshops and 1-1 sessions are offered using a variety of online platforms including Zoom.
Parents, mums, dads, step-parents, foster carers, grandparents, grandcarers, educators and anyone who connects with children aged pre-birth to 18 will find the ideas Belynda presents to be invaluable in building a connection-focused relationship with the children they care for.
